More Info & Historical Significance: Commonly known as Shencks Bridge, this Saugeen River Access point is the starting pint for adventure for many people every year. Further downstream, the river is braided with sandy tree islands that are remnants of a former delta.
The “mighty” Saugeen River used to provide important transportation for pioneers: they would walk or drive their ox cart to her banks and float all their worldly possessions down the river! The Saugeen River has provided passage for loggers, traders and adventurers for centuries.
