ADVENTURE STOP!

Detour Stop

The LIGHT at the end of the Peninsula guides boats safely into Big Tub Harbour through powerful currents, frequent fogs and numerous shoals.

The clue is located in the parking area.

While you are here:

Scuba dive or snorkel the shipwrecks

  • Did you know? Tobermory is the scuba diving capital of Canada!
  • Fathom Five National Marine Park encompasses 22 shipwrecks that are amongst the oldest and best-preserved wrecks in Canada.
  • The Grotto near Bruce Peninsula National Park has underwater caves, boulder fields, and overhangs. This is a wicked cave with smooth waters that you can get to by foot. Bring your swim trunks.

Take a Jet Boat Tour to Flowerpot Island

  • The Island is named for its shapely shoreline rock pillars that are narrow at the bottom and wide at the top.
  • It’s a 6.5 km-long island with trails, campsites, outhouses, picnic shelters, and a docking area.
  • You will see old growth cedars, cages, rare ferns and orchids.
  • Take a trail to a lighthouse on the island’s highest points, Castel Bluff, at the northeast end.

Enjoy singing sands at Dorcas Bay

  • This flora wonderland is a hot spot for plants with a variety of wildflowers and orchids including the Ram’s Head Lady Slipper.
  • In late June the fen is alive with Rose Pogonias mixed with the insect-eating Sundews and Pitcher Plants.
  • Take a walk through the warm shallow water of Lake Huron at “Singing Sands” beach.
