They drove and drove.
Everyone had grown slightly more restless but they remained in good spirits.
The next stop was Sauble Beach: one of Erins favourite locations. A real beach bum- she wanted to go to for a swim… but they only had 2 days to cover the entire Passport (and they all wanted to stop at the Grotto on the way home as Lauren had never been there). She good-naturedly agreed that they would come back to Sauble on a day trip another time and the pulled into the parking lot in front of the community center, beside the public library (which does not have public washrooms by the way- not hatin’ just sayin’)
Christin exited the car with a half empty bag of Goldfish crackers in hand, and the cluster made their way across the tarmac and towards the yellow diamond at the entrance of a wooded path. The clue said something to the effect of go down this boardwalk and find the punch after a 20 minute round trip. Off the went. Stomping on the wood at intervals to alert snakes of their presence. They talked and laughed- noting the thick, gross mud that may once have been a reflective watery surface (The Bruce at this time was extremely dry and hadn’t had a lick of rain in quite sometime… perhaps the area was just parched) and often skipping or holding hands with whoever was nearest. They came across the box fairly quickly and noted with displeasure that 2 other Explore the Bruce boxes had been torn from the board walk and thrown in the murky water. There was also a pitched tent half submerged in the muck.
People who deface public property also deserve to be publicly reprimanded/ humiliated…. Maybe even chucked into a murky bayou.
